Pope Mallette began his legal career as a clerk for Honorable William H.
Barbour, Jr., Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern
District of Mississippi. He then clerked for Honorable E. Grady Jolly on the
United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Since entering private
practice, Mr. Mallette has practiced in the areas of employment relations,
employment discrimination, products liability, business torts, civil rights,
governmental entity/municipal law, surety law, real property litigation, and
fair debt collection litigation.
Mr. Mallette is an Adjunct Professor (Employment Discrimination) at the
University of Mississippi School of Law. He regularly speaks at legal seminars
on various employment topics, and recently published a chapter on sexual
harassment in The Mississippi Employment Law Handbook . Mr. Mallette is active
in local, state and national bar associations, and has served on various
committees of the Mississippi Bar's Young Lawyers Division.
Mr. Mallette was graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1985 with a Bachelor of
Arts in History. After serving as a Surface Warfare Officer in the United States
Navy for six years, Mr. Mallette received his juris doctor, magna cum laude ,
from the University of Mississippi School of Law, where he received numerous
academic awards. Since law school, Mr. Mallette has participated in trials or
hearings before state and federal courts in Mississippi and he recently assisted
in preparation of a brief and argument before the United States Supreme Court in
an employment discrimination case.
Mr. Mallette enjoys all facets of the outdoors and spends time away from work
with his family. He is a lay reader, usher, and Sunday School teacher at
St.Peter's Episcopal Church in Oxford. Mr. Mallette is married to the former
Liza Dolby of August, Arkansas.
